Hi lovely folks,
Today I caught up with an old friend who I haven’t seen in a few months – these days between working and study, I seem to have neglected a few of my favourite peeps and forgotten about having fun! Anyway, today I was able to make some time for a very lovely friend. We spent some time with her daughter at the park, watching her whirl around on the swings, having fun (me secretly wishing that I could have a turn too).
My friend got to talking about her crazy nana – at 92 she had gone along to see Hugh Jackman with my friends sister. Apparently the nan has had the biggest crush on Hugh Jackman for as long as they can remember. My friend was reminiscing about things that her nana had said and about how she always had a twinkle in her eye when she was getting up to mischief.
It was so lovely to hear her talk so positively about her nan – it seems this fiesty lady has had such a positive effect on my friend – reminding her every single day to bring lots of fun into her life.
Did I have it all wrong?
When I first started learning about health and nutrition, I thought that the only way people lived long happy lives was if they ate a strict diet of organic food….uh, yeah I can now easily take that back! The truth, as I’m starting to realise, is actually that you can eat all the broccoli and greens in the world, but if you don’t love your life, then there’s no point. Health doesn’t start with what you put in your mouth, it starts well before then – it’s dealing with the emotions that can cause you to crave sugar and recognising that your thoughts create your world.
Hearing the girls talk, it reminded me of that great saying:
People will forget what you said, People will forget what you did, but they will never forget the way you made them feel.
I think I may have just found one of my new Commandments going forward – don’t let anyone leave without feeling happier after seeing you! This was definitely the feeling I had after the day I spent with my friend.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!
